YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
The Herff Jones Human Resources team is looking for a HR and Safety Coordinator to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA.
HERE’S HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Coordinator is responsible for supporting HR and the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) functions including administration, employee resources, policy, compliance, onboarding, and training for the Herff Jones’ Framing Success Team.
In this role you will interact and support the HR Business Partner, Safety Director, Senior Leadership, and their departments in fulfilling HR and Safety needs within the Framing Success Division.
A rounded core foundation of HR knowledge and Safety will be key to operating successfully in the role.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING ON A DAILY BASIS:
Establish and maintain effective relationships with Plant Managers, Supervisors, and production personnel
Provide HR and Safety support for functions that include, but not limited to, onboarding, training, administration, reporting, compliance, and supporting leadership and employees with policy and procedure
Serve as a secondary contact for regulatory compliance agencies
Utilize corporate EHS management platform system for maintaining metrics and all information pertaining to EHS
Assist in conducting EHS audits, identifying violations and applying abatement periods
Take necessary steps to enhance a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel
Attend HR and Safety Meetings as required
Support with data entry and office administration
Complete weekly payroll processing for 35 employees and temporary workers
Support employee events (recognition, annual celebrations) as needed
Support and serve as an additional professional to assist and learn other parts of the business by performing miscellaneous projects as needed.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TEAM:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
HR and or Safety certification a plus.
1-2 years’ experience in a Human Resources Role.
1-2 years’ experience in Safety.
1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Understanding of HR and Safety tools such as an ATS, HRIS, EHS, timekeeping, payroll, and other recording keeping systems.
General working knowledge of Federal and State Human Resource and Safety related laws and regulations.
Must be comfortable with conflict resolution.
Proven success to effectively communicate (listening, writing and verbal) across all levels of an organization.
Comfortable presenting in front of a group.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and learning new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually.

Daily activity includes but is not limited to:
Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
Reading, communication, simple math.
Standing on a fatigue mat in a specific area throughout a 10 hour+ shift.
Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.
