TDI Technologies, Inc.
(TDI) is seeking candidates for a Systems Engineer position.
This position will support the design and implementation of US Navy shipboard networks for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) applications.
This position will involve collaboration with the Naval Sea Systems Command, TDI’s primary customer for this contract, other contractors such as the original equipment manufacturers and ship design and integrators, and test and certification personnel in the field.
The candidate will employ requirements and design skills, review similar existing systems and applications, and propose improvements to adapt shipboard network designs, processes, and methods to new applications.
This position will require design, documentation, integration and test experience.
The candidate must be comfortable working with electrical, computer, and mechanical systems.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide engineering, naval architecture, integration, and ship system support for shipboard networks on domestic and foreign naval vessels.
Evaluate operational systems, recommends upgrades or design changes in response to requirements or integration challenges.
Identify root cause and recommends solutions to malfunction and performance issues with shipboard operational systems.
Provide field support for installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of AN/USQ-82(V) Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplexing System (GEDMS) equipment.
Support Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation (RDT&E) activities pertaining to hardware and software integration to meet requirements for GEDMS projects.
Provide Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) support at test sites in Huntington Beach, CA, Philadelphia, PA, Moorestown, NJ, Wallops Island, VA, Orlando, FL, and Dam Neck, VA.
Provide support with Engineering Change Proposals to define requirements, specifications, design, and testing documentation.
Support configuration management of shipboard assets and shore based support facilities and systems.
Support the ability to simulate machinery in software for integration and testing activities and support feasibility studies for new system design.
Provide technical insights into resolving issues, identifying root cause of problems as found in shipboard testing, and recommend / implement solutions.
Troubleshoot control systems, utilizing documentation, electrical and computer tools, and schematics
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Essential Skills:
Familiarity with TCP/IP network protocols and distributed control systems
Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to use an electrical multimeter and oscilloscope
Knowledge of basic electrical principles to include understanding current, voltage, power, resistance, continuity, and grounding
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications
Problem solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Shipboard or industrial experience with machinery control system installation, operational testing, troubleshooting, and repair is preferred
Experience troubleshooting machinery control systems is preferred
Ability to use electrical and software based analysis tools including network traffic analyzers (such as Wireshark, HyperTerminal, Putty, or similar) is preferred

Requirements:
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline
2-4 years of experience as an engineer or electrical technician, tracing signals, diagnosing electrical failures
1 or more years of experience testing software
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
