_A manufacturing company in the Virginia Beach area is seeking a individual eager to build a long-term career in a friendly, fast-growing and team-oriented environment.
This position necessitates an energetic, self-motivated and meticulous individual to operate multiple machines fluidly while managing, leading and monitoring of daily day-to-day functions and personnel oversight of a busy Diploma Cover Services department.
The successful candidate must consistently demonstrate the capacity to detect and communicate production quality variations in tandem with organizational, time, and priority-management abilities while coaching members of the DCS team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the production team.
Exceptional organizational, leadership, communication and time-management skills are critical for success in this position.
_ *Duties* * Oversee day-to-day operation, monitor team performance, and motivate team members * Oversee production schedule; assign and oversee all projects * Forecast and plan upcoming production needs (personnel, equipment, materials, etc.
) and coordinate same * Monitor production metrics, KPI's, Fit-Gaps (what is working and where do we have gaps) and provide reports and recommendations to Directors, Upper Management, and lateral department managers.
* Participate in Management meetings and conduct departmental meetings (serve as spokesperson for DCS production) * Hires and trains front-line employees * Organizes, directs, and oversees the schedules and work of front-line employees * Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations * Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy * Effectively collaborate with other managers and supervisors to coordinate activities in and among departments * Must understand general machine mechanics with demonstrable and strong mechanical aptitude and skills * Resolve and issues; handle maintenance work when necessary * Assist in the efficient and safe operation of one or all of the following machinery, as aptitude demonstrates: Paper Cutter, Foil Press, and other bindery equipment and machinery * Set up , break down, clean up, and/or maintain machinery as required * Validate stock accuracy and quality consistency within the production run * Investigate discrepancies that occur using the proper channels and work toward the quick resolution of process problems and quality control issues that fall outside the predefined standard * General inventory, shipping and warehouse duties, including, but not limited to, inventory forecasting, control, stock preparation and verification, and.
/or gathering and prepping department supplies and production materials.
* Fine motor skills, including, but not limited to, the full, complete use of and muscle control required to make precise hand movements, relative to tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, muscle coordination and dexterity * Other duties as required *Requirements* * Associate's degree in related field, or equivalent industry experience; bachelor's degree in management, engineering, business, or related field preferred * Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role * Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software – emphasis on Excel.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Proficiency with computerized production and distribution systems desired but not required.
