*SUMMARY:*
The Corporate Safety Director is a detail-oriented, self-starter with leadership experience and a mind for construction and job site safety.
The Safety Director will plan and implement corporate occupational health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations to ensure safety throughout all divisions and jobsites of TSTRG and TDSC.
In this position, you will ensure the safety of each team member at each of our job sites, oversee processes for onsite audits/inspections, monthly safety training, annual safety stand-downs, safety orientation training and guidance as well as staying up to date on all safety regulations to ensure that the company remains in compliance.
_*The Safety Director will report directly to the CEO and the President of the Company.
*_ *RESPONSIBILITIES OF CORPORATE SAFETY DIRECTOR:* * Executive level oversight of the Corporate Safety program.
* Administer and maintain the Corporate Safety Committee, comprised of a rotating group of employees, fostering employee buy-in of the Safety Program and promoting issues of employee interest related to health and safety.
* Update Corporate Safety Policies on a regular basis to comply with OSHA, VOSH, EM385, and other safety regulations.
* Develop and update master templates for job specific AHA’s and APP’s.
* Review AHA’s and APP’s for specific projects as they are created by the project team for final approval prior to submission.
* Work with project managers and foreman/superintendents to implement safety policies and project specific safety plans.
* Work with our insurance agent to deal with claims and accidents.
* Address workers comp issues.
* Develop and implement drug screening programs.
* Interface with OSHA, VOSH, and other government agencies to address safety violations, as applicable.
* Apply for and maintain safety awards and programs such as VPP, ABC National Safety Excellence, etc.
* Work with project managers to ensure jobs are properly set up and conduct safety stand-downs prior to start of work.
* Work with field safety inspectors and project managers to regularly visit sites and fix safety issues.
* Make surprise visits to jobs sites and document/fix safety issues.
* Ensure Weekly Toolbox Talks are happening on all jobsites and are being documented correctly.
* Ensure warehouse and fabrication facilities are run in accordance with VOSH and Corporate Safety guidelines.
* Conduct monthly company safety training (approx.
1hr) to ensure all field and office employees are up to date on the latest safety trends and regulations or to enforce issues that you see repeated in the field.
* Hold in-house safety certification training sessions for employees needing certifications or renewals of certifications.
* Plan and execute a companywide safety stand-down day, with outside vendors and company trainers, to hold an 8hr fun and educational day.
*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:* * CSP, CIH, CHST, CSHM, CSMC, higher education degree in Safety, or other equivalent safety certifications REQUIRED.
* DoD, Federal, or State safety experience a plus.
* Construction safety experience is highly desired but not necessary with extensive safety experience in the industrial industry.
* Ability to teach AND certify or willing to attend instructor certification for OSHA-30, OSHA-10, 24-Hour Fall Protection, EM385 40-Hour, CPR/First Aid * Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook) is preferred.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, subcontractors, or employees of the organization.
* Valid Driver’s License.
