For over 90 years we have been making our delicious homemade chocolates, confections and Salt Water Taffy.
We manufacture over 100 different chocolate confections many of which are original recipes that date back to 1930.
*OVERVIEW*
This position requires a high amount of attention to detail and the operator's undivided attention throughout the entirety of their shift.
Must be able to safely and productively operate taffy wrapping machine.
This machine is an older style mechanically driven machine without computers.
Operator is responsible for monitoring taffy wrapping machines and making fine adjustments during the process as necessary to speed controls for proper function of machine.
Operator also must monitor and understand consistency of taffy product throughout process.
Some mechanical aptitude is beneficial to assist in diagnosing minor mechanical issues.
*PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:*
* Prepare machine, equipment, supplies, and work area before, during, and after scheduled shift.
* Call for batches of taffy as needed during the production process to feed into machines.
* Control and adjust machine to ensure proper speed settings, alignment of taffy, shaping quality and monitor process as machine cuts and wraps individual pieces of candy.
* Safely and productively operate machinery while paying close attention to the process throughout.
* Check output to spot any machine-related issues ensuring consistent quality
* Stack finished boxes of bulk taffy onto designated pallets while appropriately applying labels/signage.
* Maintain accurate records all food safety and production documentation
* Adhere to all food safety policies and procedures set forth by Forbes Candies
* Perform general housekeeping and cleaning of workstation, equipment, and department as required.
* Achieve and maintain the production standards set forth by Forbes Candie
* Perform other duties and manage special projects as assigned by management

*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:*
* Minimum of 1 year experience operating industrial and/or production machinery preferred
* Experience in food manufacturing environment or similar industry preferred
* Strong attention to detail, focus, and undivided attention on task.
* Good mechanical aptitude a plus
* Must be able to safely operate industrial machinery (taffy wrapping machine).
* Complete tasks promptly and carefully.
* Communicates effectively and professionally in all forms of communication, acting in the best interest of the Company and co-workers at all times.
* Strong desire to achieve while working within and supporting a team environment
* Ability to understand and complete paperwork accurately with good record keeping ability.
* Must be able lift up to 30 pounds from the floor to chest height or higher throughout the entirety of scheduled shift.
* Must be able to stand/walk the entire shift (breaks are provided)
* Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and interact appropriately with co-workers, management, vendors, and guests.
* Must be willing to work in unfavorable conditions such as hot and cold temperatures
* Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required
