Job Duties:
The Virginia Beach City Attorney's Office provides effective and efficient legal services, promotes accountability, trust and openness in government and focuses on outcomes that are fair, equitable and balanced while protecting the best interest of the client.
The Virginia Beach City Attorney's Office is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Paralegal to become part of our real estate team.
Paralegals are essential to helping the City accomplish important projects.
You will:
Prepare agreements of sale
Prepare closing documents and various pleadings
Review and proofread plats and title reports
Draft City Council ordinances and resolutions
Prepare legal correspondence
Provide first review of City contracts
Create and maintain accurate electronic and paper files
We are looking for a person who wants to be a trusted right-hand asset to our attorneys.
Successful candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills; be able to manage multiple tasks necessary to keep up with the real estate needs of Virginia's largest city; confidently meet deadlines; and have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to five (5) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills and abilities and associated with such positions as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant.
May be required to possess a Paralegal/Legal Assistant Certificate.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
