FREE as tools to learn Refrigeration/Home Bar Equipment Repair.
Both these items were fully functional at one time but now would require tinkering to use.
If you’ve got the time and enjoy troubleshooting, this actually could be quite a fun and interesting project.
SomaBar itself works but the App no longer functions (Kickstarter Item) so if you can figure out how to reprogram it it could be an interesting conversation piece.
GE Opal makes ice BUT the DeScale Sensor erroneously reads that the unit is in need of descaling even after 2 full descaling cycles, so it will start to make ice and then shut down when the ice drawer is about 1/2 full and insist on another descale cycle.
Trialed a stronger chlorine and water rinse followed by a third vinegar and water descale cycle which eroded one of the internal valves leading to a leak from the water lines into the bottom pan, so likely you would also need to pop the back panel off and clean some mild rust from the bottom pan as well as flush the lines with a chlorine rinse prior to use.
There are some pretty great detailed YouTube videos on how to do this as well as how to replace the Descale Sensor.
If you are a tinkerer and like figuring out how things work and repairing them, these could both probably be repaired over a weekend for fun.
FREE for use for the fun of learning how to fix something.
