*Responsibilities:*
* Develop and implement an engaging and innovative science curriculum that aligns with Virginia state standards and Quaker principles.
* Foster a classroom environment that promotes active learning, collaboration, and inquiry-based exploration.
* Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies, including hands-on experiments, demonstrations, group discussions, and multimedia resources to accommodate diverse learning styles.
* Design and facilitate experiential learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, such as field trips, science fairs, and nature walks.
* Provide meaningful feedback and assessment to students to support their academic growth and development.
* Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-curricular connections and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences.
* Serve as a mentor and advisor to students, promoting their social-emotional well-being and academic success.
* Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and to solicit feedback on the science program.
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay abreast of current trends in science education.
*Qualifications:*
* A master’s degree in education, science, or a related field is preferred.
* Previous teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level, with a demonstrated ability to create dynamic and interactive learning environments.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians.
* Enthusiasm for hands-on learning, experiential education, and providing students with opportunities for authentic scientific inquiry.
* Familiarity with technology integration and educational tools to enhance science instruction.
* Dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and school community.
* Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
