Amentum is seeking a talented Entry Level Software Engineer in the Virigina Beach area.
Mid Level Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:
Develop and/or verify software system specifications and requirements documentation, develop support system software capabilities, features, or enhancements.
Plans, performs, and lead software design, coding, and testing.
Work with customers and engineers in an adaptive Agile environment, build and maintaining the latest software projects for the navy, and helping expand our software capabilities.
Support system testing by performing various tasks such as test-scenario development.
Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs.
Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
Update or enhance existing software capabilities.
Work with other functional disciplines (e.
g.
, project management, acquisition, logistics, security, etc.
) to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and performance requirements.
Maintain databases within an application area.
Primary work location will be in Virginia Beach, VA or Dam Neck, VA with 40% telecommute (2 days per week on average).
Communicating status, risks, issues, and ideas for innovation directly to the PM.

Minimum Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related field, and at least 6 years of related DoD software engineer support experience.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance (at a minimum, must receive/be approved for an interim Secret security clearance in order to start) Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.
Experience with designing, coding, and debugging Object Oriented Applications in a formal software development environment.
Experience with programming in Java and C++
Experience with Linux or Windows operating systems
Preferred: Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
Experience with and proficient with at least one of the following Object-oriented programming (OOP) languages: C/C++,Java, or Python.
