Job Summary: Serves as a Wireless Networking Engineer responsible for designing, specifying procurement, installation, troubleshooting, and the Research and Development of NEXCOM's wireless networks for assigned NEXCOM Enterprise Activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: Incumbents of this position must be U.

- Responsible for the research and development of new wireless technologies used to optimize and maintain NEXCOM's corporate and worldwide network.
- Responsible for wireless network design and testing of new products to determine the most advantageous means of implementing and integrating wireless equipment with current LAN, WAN and security infrastructure.
- Provides capacity planning and analysis for new and currently installed networks.
- Optimizes performance of wireless devices while fulfilling PCI/DoD security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption and intrusion detection.
- Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and modification of wireless network hardware and software.
- Provides technical support and user services in the area of wireless devices, including hand-held devices, LAN connectivity, and building-to-building/site-to-site.
- Supports other department and activities in the troubleshooting and repair process of enterprise wireless devices.
- Responsible for documentation of installed networks.
- Maintains the security and integrity of all network hardware and software.
- Participates in a 24-hour/7 day on-call rotation for network support.
- Provides oral and written reports to all levels of the Code I management chain.
- Responsible for tracking all wireless hardware inventory, installed and spare.
- Place and track orders for wireless hardware and software in support of Code I initatives.
- Ensure/implement the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Systems, Applications and/or Services (Hardware & Software).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in administrative, technical work, which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes, required to perform technical or analytical work and coordination involving management information systems.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree for 3 years general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in the following: >Wireless networking design, hardware configurations, implementation, >administration, monitoring/support, and wireless network security Wireless and networking technologies to include wireless standards, wireless protocols, IP addressing, physical access point cabling installation and troubleshooting, and basic Ethernet limitations.
>Integration within and support of a multi-node environment, in a diverse geographic area, across a wide-area network.
