The Finance and Accounting Director will be responsible for the oversight, direction, and management of the Accounting Department and the Financial Planning and Analysis unit.
He or she is accountable for all accounting operations, including the production of regular, standardized financial reports produced, where appropriate, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and any specific requirements that apply to U.
S.
government contractors; maintenance of accounting software; development of a comprehensive set of internal controls; and general oversight of budgets and forecasts designed to mitigate risk and contribute to the formulation of strategies designed to accomplish the company’s general goals and objectives.
This position has supervisory responsibilities and has the potential for further advancement to a Finance Controller position.
This hybrid position offers a blend of on-site and remote work, with 3 days at our office located in Orlando, Florida, and 2 days of remote work, per week.
Key responsibilities: Oversee the accounting/finance staff and operations of the accounting department including the design of an organizational structure and determination of staffing levels adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
Oversee monthly accounting process including the preparation and distribution of regular, standardized financial reports.
Ensure that accounting department staff receive all necessary training.
Provide guidance on financial standards and internal controls as well as evaluating financial systems and processes.
Oversee outsourced financial functions (i.
e.
, payroll and 401K).
Collaborate with FP&A in developing and issuing financial and operating metrics; analyzing variances from the budget; preparing ad hoc financial reports; conducting cash flow planning and analysis; providing financial analyses as needed, particularly for capital investment and contract pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Manage interdepartmental relationships and coordination.
Collaborate with Internal Audit to ensure compliance with the company’s procedures and standards.
Responsible for the complete and accurate client and project-based accounting and financial reporting Ensure Accounting team completes all necessary monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliations Ensure compliance with US federal and state regulations Serve as primary contact for external auditors Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications to be successful in the role: 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience 3-5 Years of management experience US government contracting experience essential Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; CPA Preferred Experience with DCAA compliant ERP systems (Unanet preferred) and Quickbooks preferred Ability to establish and work under, and meet, tight deadlines and deliverables Demonstrated ability to work independently and to effectively manage time and priorities Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Experience with payroll service providers, insurance brokers and 401k administrators preferred Experience with collaboration with other departments Experience in financial analysis preferred Fundamental knowledge of GAAP required Some US income and payroll tax understanding highly preferred Ability to quickly adapt as situations change and make the best possible decisions with the information at-hand Strong leadership qualities Excellent managerial skills Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Deadline and detail-oriented Comfortable working remotely Fluent in English Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits) Visit our career site https://planate.
